“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." - Coco Chanel

Magazine freebies!

For anyone that doesn't know magazine day is Tuesday when you can grab your hands on the latest copy of your weekly or monthly fix. At the minute there are loads that seem to be offering freebies this month including:

  • She - Fashion Babylon book (one of my must-have books for fashionistas, a great insight into the fashion world's secrets and the BBC drama Material Girl on few years ago was based on this if anyone can remember?)
  • Elle - Neal Yard Remedies Eyeliner (this is the March issue but you may still find a few copies on the shelf)
  • Red - £25 Hobbs/NW3 gift card (March issue -i still can't afford to shop there even with the discount)
  • Bliss - Barry M Glossy Tubes x 3
I only popped into Tesco today with the intention to buy Look Magazine as it's a bumper fashion issue for £1 and features all the looks from their high street catwalk show last week (was anyone lucky enough to win tickets?) but Glamour and Cosmo tempted me as well!

Glamour are offering a free Clinique product to celebrate their tenth birthday with the April issue and on their website every day throughout March you can win a beauty product. To enter the competition click here.

The ten Clinique products you can choose from are:
(Top row L-R) 1. Take the Day off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes &Lips
                           2. Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss
                           3. High Impact Lip Colour SPF15
                           4. 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula
(Bottom row L-R) 5. Liquid Facial Soap Mild
                                 6. Moisturise Surge Extended Thirst Relief
                                 7. Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
                                 8. Long Last Glosswear SPF15
                                 9. High Impact Mascara
                                 10. All About Eyes

Now I'm not a huge fan of Clinique, an ex-therapist at work told me Clinique was like using paint-stripper on your face and I've never dared used their skincare range since then - i hasten to add we don't use Clinique at work! But if anyone can recommend one of the above products i may change my mind. Given that i was drawn to the make-up products and ultimately the one i would get most use out of was the lipstick.

I think all the make-up products are only available in one colour unless anyone tells me different. The High Impact Lip Colour is called Rosette (17) and is a orangey red with gold shimmer, it almost has a rust/deep coral tone to it.

All images are without flash in natural light.

Swatch

Hopefully you can pick up on the gold shimmer in the last pic but in real-life it's more noticeable close-up. Apparently it should last up to 6 hours so I'll try that for work but i reckon this is more of a day colour and would look great with the s/s11 palette.

What did everyone else pick up and should i bother getting any more?

Next up is Cosmopolitan, not quite as good as Glamour but they are giving away a free Missguided Lipsplash worth £5.

You can choose from a red, clear or nude gloss. I was torn between the red and nude but wasn't prepared to buy both with the magazine costing £3.50 so settled on the nude as the lipstick was already a red shade so wanted something different.

The gloss isn't really highly pigmented but what do you expect from Missguided? Maybe they should stick to what they know!

I'm still wearing the Clinique lipstick so a pic of this gloss is to come.

Just a quick mention before i finish, you can get 20% discount at Warehouse in this week's Look Magazine.
