“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." - Coco Chanel

My love of rust

Inspired by my new Topshop shorts i decided to try my hand at creating a set over at Polyvore. I love the S/S 11 colour palette of rust, blush and coral and i intend to buy all of these items - payday permitting!

I reckon i may get addicted to Polyvore - it's like being a virtual stylist!

Coco Crazy

Over at Phoebe Does i spotted she had some amazing nail art going on involving the Chanel 'CC' logo. Now on first reflection i know these are very tacky and a little dare i say - My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding-ish but i do love my Coco Chanel and i just had to try it out for myself.

Nails Inc polish from the Glamour Collection in Tower Bridge.
Oh yes! Full on chav-tastic! They actually don't look that bad in the above photo but after wearing them to work i think less is more definitely applies here, so i decided to redo the manicure with just one accent nail.

Now doesn't that look better?

Ok, ok  i'm not sure it's for everyone and the opinion at work was 50/50 but forget about The Hills' Heidi Montag and take a look at these photos:

As seen on Vogue.co.uk no less - even i think this is too much!

 Are you convinced?

Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Just a quickie OOTD post...

Today's outfit is a work look featuring a previous un-loved item my River Island grey skirt, Now i bought this skirt in the sale a few years ago and thought it would be a great addition to my working wardrobe. Usually when it comes to skirts I'm strictly a pencil type of girl, hugging in all the right places creating a curvy silhouette - i know what suits me! But this skirt is a skater-style, think Dancing on Ice rather than Avril Lavigne, and more suited to the long-legged in my opinion. I prefer my clothes to be fitted to emphasise my figure but this skirt just seems to exaggerate the size of my derriere and i definitely do not need any extra help in that area!

Favourite part of the outfit...

The accessories really help lift this outfit from blah to well not so blah! I was breaking the work dress code with this skirt, they're supposed to be at least knee length! What can i say i am a rebel :p

Top - Dorothy Perkins
Skirt - River Island
Tights - Primark
Shoes - Office
Necklace - Miss Selfridge
Watch - Michael Kors
Bag - River Island

I can't wait for the summer after seeing so many bright pieces in Topshop the other day, i think the trend I'll be rocking is colour blocking, that way i can also rework some old pieces from my wardrobe. Colour palette wise I'm drawn towards pastel shades, think Barry M's nail polishes and ice-cream colours. I picked up some great blush coloured shorts from Topshop which I'll wear with tights for now and then tanned bare legs come summer.

Although again as with the skirt i was concerned the shorts made my bum look big but i can overlook that as they're so gorgeous and versatile. Please note i wouldn't normally wear them with the t-shirt but it was what i had on at the time. They are loose fit so a fitted top or silk shirt is needed to balance out the proportions.

Here's a better pic from Topshop's website:

Tan Cupro Paperbag Waist Shorts £36
I was also torn over the Multicoloured Flower Print Paperbag Waist Shorts hmmm...

In other news I'm looking at buying a tripod so i can do proper outfit posts so if anyone has any suggestions? And I'm currently in the process of changing my hair colour, hence the headband in the photos, once it's complete and if it's a success i will show all.

It's all grey-vy (sorry!)

Today's outfit was a LGD (Little Grey Dress). It was just about acceptable for my work code of dress when teamed with some opaques - I'm not sure i could ever wear it with bare legs :P

Dress: Asos
Tights: Primark
Shoes: Faith

I've cut my face out as this was taken after work and I'd been up since 5am so definitely not looking my best.

I love the design of this dress, it's quite simple with cap sleeves and pleated detailing - see below for close-up...

Apologies for the lack of flash but it was just emphasising how dirty my mirror is
And then i came home to a parcel - my eagerly awaited Nails Inc flash sale buy. On Friday Nails Inc tweeted they were having a flash sale (can't remember the occasion) with up to 77% off, so you know me, I'm a bit of a Nails Inc whore and couldn't resist the Glamour Collection which includes 6 nail polishes for £15!!!

The polishes came beautifully presented in a small box wrapped in black tissue paper....

And inside....ta-dah!

So on the top row we have from left-right....

Tower Bridge - Deep Burgundy brown
Duke Street - Mauve/ grey
Motcomb Street - V.dark navy/black - looks black at first glance but you can see navy blue running through

And bottom row left-right....

Birdcage Walk - soft marshmallow beige/pink
Chester Square  Burgundy/wine
Pembroke Close - Lilac

Now immediately Duke Street stood out as my favourite and seeing as i was wearing grey (hence the title) i thought it would match my outfit nicely - pretty pointless as i was already at home as had planned at night in watching The Brits.

Now it looks very distinctly like a flat grey in the NOTD and a little similar to my Rimmel Grey Matter as seen here but on close inspection you can pick up on the purple undertone making it more of a mauve colour. Grey nail polish has been having a bit of a moment during A/W '10 and works well with my office attire.

I'll do NOTD with the rest of the colours in due course.

Before i go i want to say a big congratulations to Tinie Tempah on scooping 2 Brit awards, i have his Disc-Overy album constantly on repeat on my ipod, its in my car and my workout CD! I'm going to post a pic soon complete with geeky glasses to commemorate!!

Primark Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

Primark are seriously upping their style stakes for Spring/Summer 11 with campaign shots that could rival Topshop featuring Jade from Britain's Next Top Model - the one who was too skinny - shock/horror - but has carved a successful career by the looks of things, i've spotted her at ASOS  as well.
The collection certainly takes inspiration from Mad Men/Louis Vuitton with full skirts and cinched waists to wide-legged trousers and floppy hats reminiscent of the 70's vibe and preppy geek chic as seen on Gossip Girl, not forgetting retailers favourite spring trend...nautical.

Love this colour palette - blush tones are definitely my go-to this summer

Topshop campaign anyone....?

My favourites include this Belted Chiffon Dress £15.....

I've got hair envy!
And my hero piece... 2 in 1 Chiffon Dress £15

I need this in my life

I first spotted this in Grazia a few weeks back and have been lusting after ever since. I didn't think i would ever embrace the mid-calf length skirt trend but the simplicity of the design makes this a great transeasonal piece looking equally as good teamed with heels and flats. Just a shame it wasn't in stock yet :(

Well i did pop in store at the weekend to have a peek at their latest offerings and picked up a few pieces.

First up is this Lace T-Shirt £8 as see below in grey:

I also picked this up in a pale pink  and noticed it was v.popular with shoppers!

I've also been after a great off-duty shirt, i love Equipment the fashion editor's fave:

Carine Roitfield - style icon

But my budget doesn't stretch to £210 so i'm making do with this £10 bargain buy from Primark....

Eqipment vs Primark double take

Embracing the slightly warmer weather i needed some bright sandals to add to my wardrobe...
Leather sandals £12

These are actually bright yellow despite the dark photo but are also available in tan, green, white and red. These will be gracing my feet all summer - but watch out for colour transfer if wearing with jeans. Just add a Barry M crackle polish pedi in contrasting colour and you'll be all set.  Talking about crackle polish Nails Inc have just released their version on QVC today - a 3 piece collection which includes a metallic silver polish for a futuristic look - looks like it's sold out already so keep an eye out on the website.

The full Primark collection can be viewed at Look Magazine here.

Banner

Sun is shining....

...weather is sweet. Make you want to move your dancing feet.

Oh yeah i do love a bit of Bob Marley when the sun is out and officially today is the first day i've worn my sunglasses - whoop - summer is on it's way!!

I may have been wearing my sunnies today but it's still not quite warm enough to break out the flip flops or though i did rock a peep-toe the other day....

Today's OOTD has been worked around my vintage print t-shirt from Topshop.

It's about 2 years old and from the Exposure for Topshop range. The print is called Mack Sennett Girls - Summer of 1923. The little blurb says: "The Mack Sennett Bathing Belles wearing the latest in fashionable bathing costumes" - well what else would you expect?! I remember there was also a Woodstock tee as well if anyone got hold of it.

Inspired by my last post about Chanel at Asos i decided to bring out the Warehouse quilted bag again and go with a grey theme.

Jacket - Warehouse
T-Shirt - Exposure for Topshop
Jeggings - Dorothy Perkins
Snood - Warehouse
Shoes - (just seen) Faith
Bag - Warehouse (see below)

I was torn between wearing the snood loose as seen above or double wrapped - see below. I like it loose for today's OOTD but i didn't want people thinking i didn't know how it was supposed to be worn :p

You've even got a sneeky peek at what i was trying on!

And just add some gold accessories...

Watch - Michael Kors 5055
Bracelet - Asos
Earrings - Topshop (part of a set)

I bought my sister this bracelet but with the anchor on for Christmas - it's to remind her to keep her feet on the ground!

I must apologise for the hair! I was getting my hair trimmed in the morning so just whacked it up and put on a headband to cover up the greasy roots! My fringe looked a bit dodgy after so i put the headband back on - ssh don't tell the hairdresser.

FOTD wise i've been stuck in a make-up rut - black eyeliner and berry lipstick.

Vintage Chanel alert!......Vintage Chanel alert.....!

As you can tell from the quote on my page, Coco Chanel is one of my greatest fashion hero's and there isn't much i wouldn't do to get my hands on a piece of Chanel not to mention vintage Chanel. Well helloooo! Checking my emails this morning i discover today's (or possibly yesterdays) ASOS newsletter featuring none other than vintage C-H-A-N-E-L!!! Now i thought i know ASOS are good but surely they can't be this good? Thinking it was someone selling Chanel on their new marketplace site (it's a bit like ebay but with better pics!) i thought I'd take a look but hell no ASOS are really selling vintage Chanel. Now I'm surprised they've got anything left to sell because if i was working for then i would've snapped it up pronto. My dream items from Chanel are the 2.25 handbag and the logo studded earrings - of which they are selling but they're still waaaaaaaaayyy outta my price league unless i put it on the credit card.....hmmmm.

I want...I need....

Vintage Chanel Classic Bag £2160.00!

I can smell the leather from here!

Vintage Chanel 80's Quilted Interlocking 'CC' Logo Clip On Earrings £460

Now isn't this what credit cards were invented for - fashion emergencies - right?

Well inspired by this morning's news i decided to dig out my Chanel-esque bag courtesy of Warehouse and plan this evening's attire for pub grub with a side order of gossip.

Jumper - Next
Jeans - Primark
Belt - Dorothy Perkins
Bag - Warehouse
Shoes - Office
Hair - In need of some work!!

I'm loving my Next jumper at the mo - perfect for the cold weather - only problem is that it comes a bit short in the front not good if my muffin top decides to appear after I've eaten!

Here's a close-up of the fur detailing on the shoulder....

Furry nice  - couldn't resist a cheap gag!
This outfit is very similar to my shopping outfit the other weekend but the jean, shoes and bag are all different!!

Obsession: Asda Chosen By You Yoghurt's - Coconut is my fav
Listening To: Ellie Goulding
Reading: Marian Keys Anybody Out There
Nail Polish: Was Nails Inc Saville Row now back to Nails Inc Caramel as going to attempt a leopard print look later.
